Adam Sandler’s animated Dracula has upset action hero Dwayne Johnson at the box office this weekend. The Sony release Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation is on track to debut with about $44.1 million in ticket sales in the U.S. and Canada, topping the chart while outpacing Johnson and Universal’s disaster movie Skyscraper, which will open with an estimated $25.5 million. For Hotel Transylvania 3, its opening is in line with industry projections, but Skyscraper is coming in well below expectations, which were in the $30 million to $40 million range heading into the weekend.

It's all happening! Almost Famous, the beloved 2000 film from Cameron Crowe inspired by his own youthful experiences as a music journalist, is coming to Broadway as a musical. With a book and lyrics by Crowe and a score by Tom Kitt (Next to Normal), the musical sets the story of young aspiring journalist William (Casey Likes), groupie Penny Lane (Solea Pfeiffer), and rock 'n' roll band Stillwater to a new original soundtrack.
In the new supernatural horror film The Autopsy of Jane Doe (out Dec. 21), actors Brian Cox and Emile Hirsch handle the bulk of the dialog as father-and-son coroners tasked with discovering what killed an unknown woman found by cops at the site of a massacre. But director André Øvredal (Trollhunter) believes the cast member with the hardest job was actress and model Olwen Kenny who portrayed the titular corpse and was required to lie dead still — and naked — for take after take, no matter what was happening around her.

Chris Hemsworth was still filming The Avengers when made an audition tape for the role of British Formula One driver James Hunt in Rush. The tape impressed Rush director Ron Howard and the film’s writer-producer Peter Morgan, but the pair had one major concern. As Hemsworth was still filming The Avengers he had the musclebound physique of Thor rather than that of the lithe Hunt. “He had the right look, assuming he could lose the weight,” says Howard.
It's hard to make a global music tour environmentally friendly, but Coldplay are putting in the effort. When the band announced their new tour to support their most recent album, Music of the Spheres, they made several environmental pledges and announced sustainability initiatives to reduce their carbon footprint as much as possible.
