Fall is here — and so is plenty of new music. Finally, you don’t have to call anyone else when there’s something strange in the neighborhood: A new interactive ride at Motiongate Dubai is initiating everyone who steps on board as Ghostbusters. Inspired by the 1984 classic comedy and its recent reboot, Ghostbusters: Battle for New York equips riders with their own proton packs with the goal of shooting as many ghosts as possible. The Ecto-Pod cars carry guests along the rooftops of New York City, where projections of some of the franchise’s iconic ghosts, such as Slimer and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, will appear and taunt riders.
Amber Stevens West is joining Adam Scott and Craig Robinson in their battle against paranormal forces. The Carmichael Show star, who became available with the late-June cancellation of that NBC comedy, has signed on to Fox comedy Ghosted as a series regular, the network has confirmed. Premiering Oct. 1, the show features Scott as a Stanford astrophysics professor-turned-bookstore-employee named Max and Robinson as an LAPD-detective-turned-mall-cop named Leroy. The pair is recruited by the head of The Bureau Underground (Ally Walker) to investigate the paranormal after one of its agents is abducted.
Sonny Corleone (James Caan) gave a memorable bruising to his brother-in-law, Carlo Rizzi, in the 1972 classic The Godfather, but according to the actor on the receiving end of the iconic beatdown, his character wasn't the only thing that took a hit during the production of the Francis Ford Coppola masterpiece. Actor Gianni Russo—who portrayed the ill-fated, abusive husband of the only Corleone daughter—says his relationship with Caan had frayed as filming commenced, though their tension came to a head while shooting the violent altercation (sparked by Rizzi's mistreatment of Corleone's sister) on the streets of Harlem in New York City.
File under Happy Summer Friday: Important Frenchman Gilles Marini has issued a calendar of his near-naked (but never-nude?) body, the theme of which appears to be “Sex.” Huffington Post has a mini gallery of some of the highly pornographic shots. This Sex and the Peanut Butter and Jelly one is actually the most tame. Gilles, who should have won season 8 of Dancing With the Stars, seems unable to commit to the sandwich.
Breaking news from the Stars Hollow Gazette: The costume supervisor for the Gilmore Girls revival knows who the father of Rory Gilmore's baby is based on basic mathematics. And no, it isn't the Wookiee. Valerie Campbell, who worked on 2016's Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, has declared in a series of TikTok videos that Logan Huntzberger (Matt Czuchry) is the father of Rory's (Alexis Bledel) baby, ruling out the forgettable Paul (Jack Carpenter) and the Wookiee that Rory had a one-night stand with in the series.
In a boozy example of art imitating life, a drunken party on set led to a drunken party in an episode of Glee about alcohol awareness. Glee alums Kevin McHale and Jenna Ushkowitz talked about the events surrounding the season 2 episode "Blame It on the Alcohol" on their podcast And That's What You Really Missed. "We got drunk on set y'all," McHale said. "We got caught having a dance party at base camp — where our trailers are — after going to lunch and having a little bit of some substances.
Glen Powell still worries that his first encounter with Matthew McConaughey was not alright, alright, alright. The Anyone but You star recalled meeting the Interstellar actor for the first time during his appearance on Friday's episode of The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, explaining that at the time he and his father were visiting a Texas ranch owned by Richard Linklater, the filmmaker with whom he worked on Fast Food Nation, Everybody Wants Some, Apollo 10 ½, and the upcoming Hit Man.
Psych-rockers MGMT returned in October with "Little Dark Age," the title track from their fourth album, set to arrive early next year. The band simultaneously dropped a predictably odd music video to go with the tune — and now they've shared a behind-the-scenes clip about its making, which EW is excited to premiere below. In the 1969 godzilla flick Destroy All Monsters!, the earth’s biggest and angriest beasts have been banished to Monster Island. That is, until evil aliens (who else?) release the fearsome animals to trample major cities (where else?) everywhere. Although why this game is named after that movie isn’t entirely clear. With the exception of a laugh-out-loud alien broadcast that opens the Adventure mode, Melee just barely resembles the film’s plot, and includes only a few of the featured monsters.
