Not quite necrophilia, but almost. ”Sweet November” (opening Feb. 16) is only the latest in a long line of deathbed romances that really began with ”Camille,” Alexandre Dumas (fils)’ 1852 stage play about a Parisian courtesan who’s secretly dying of tuberculosis, consoled only by the knowledge that her demise will ennoble the callow rich youth who adores her.

In a press release, S&S publisher Jonathan Karp said, “Some authors are worth waiting for, even if you have to wait for two decades, and Candice Bergen is one of them.” The as-yet-untitled book will be out in 2012.

Yes, Candice Bergen once went on a blind date with Donald Trump, and she says it was “very short.” The Murphy Brown star acknowledged her rendezvous with the future president on an upcoming episode of Harry, explaining that it took place in her college years. “I was 18,” Bergen said. “He was a nice-looking guy, I mean, he was. And I was in college, and it’s where he was going to be going to college.

Cartoon Network announced the news Tuesday. First aired in 1990 as Captain Planet and the Planeteers and later known as The New Adventures of Captain Planet and The All New Adventures of Captain Planet, the earnest toon follows five teenagers who are chosen from across the globe to help defend the planet from eco-villains.
