newsJaws dropped Wednesday night at the Country Music Association Awards when Beyoncé and the Dixie Chicks brought down the house with a surprise performance of “Daddy Lessons,” the Lemonade track the Dixie Chicks have been covering on tour all year. And then, just after they left the stage, their joint version of the song became available as a free download. The Dixie Chicks wore dark ensembles, while Beyoncé rocked the stage in a nude sparkly gown.
Only Beyoncé can call performing to a sold-out audience of 3,500 an "intimate affair" with a straight face. If there's anything to be learned from the R&B pop talent's magnificent set last night at New York City's Roseland Ballroom for her 4 Intimate Nights With Beyoncé run, it's that Beyoncé's bigger than any ballroom. Queen B's manic swarm of fans attacked the venue early, shoving and jostling through Roseland's severely undermanned entrance, then rammed their way up to prime viewing real estate in the standing-room-only floor setup.
Picture-perfect Jennifer Clasen/HBO In the second season of Big Little Lies, the moms of Otter Bay don't let a little murder and scandal get in the way of their beauty routines. Says hair department head Jose Zamora: "These women are put together." Adds makeup department head Michelle Radow: “There’s this little competitive world with the mothers at the school, so you’ll see more makeup.” Pretty in pink HBO; Elizabeth Arden "
Bill Murray is going through a "funny moment" right now, which is incredibly relatable in the age of shelter-in-place orders. Jimmy Kimmel called up his guest over video chat, hoping to "shake us out of this pandemic doldrum." What he got was Murray sitting in his bathtub, almost like his Groundhog Day scene, minus the killer toaster. It feels appropriate on one level: we are all collectively repeating quarantine over and over and over again on an endless loop.
Bill Nighy is boldly going where David Bowie has gone before. The Love Actually star will step into the role of alien Thomas Newton in Showtime's upcoming series The Man Who Fell to Earth, taking over the part played by Bowie in the cult-classic film of the same name. Nighy will star opposite Chiwetel Ejiofor as a new extraterrestrial character and Naomie Harris as a human scientist enlisted to help with his mission.
Will the real Bill please stand up? Bill Nye the Science Guy has revealed that Jennifer Coolidge's recent Golden Globes quip about mispronouncing names caused some confusion for his sister. The beloved brainiac had to clarify that he did not win an award and that Coolidge was in fact shouting out the English actor Bill Nighy. "My sister called me, my sister!" Nye recalled to E! News. "[She asked] 'You won the Golden Globe?
Billie Eilish thinks you should be jerking off more. The 22-year-old singer said sex and masturbation are her way of decompressing during her hectic schedule as she preps for the May release of her third album, even going so far as to say she "should have a Ph.D. in masturbation." "I basically talk about sex any time I possibly can," she told Rolling Stone in a new interview. "That’s literally my favorite topic.
Much like “Golden Frog Time” before it, the penultimate episode of season four is Billions at its best. It’s a twisty, sometimes confusing, always entertaining episode that establishes the season’s endgame while also asking “are you sure that’s the endgame?” There are so many story threads here, so many different character motivations, that it can be difficult to parse what’s really going on — and that’s half the fun. Add in every character’s propensity for lying and you get a glorious episode that deals in unreality, shifting perspectives, and perfectly sets up a finale where loyalties and relationships will be tested.
Billy Bob Thornton secured his place in the Christmas movie canon with 2003's Bad Santa, an acrid yet strangely heartwarming comedy that's proven to be a perennial favorite. And much of the credit for that goes to Thornton's hard-committed performance as the booze-soaked, misanthropic department store Santa Claus Willie Soke… emphasis on the booze part. "I do have a Method actor aspect to myself," Thornton explains in the latest episode of PeopleTV's Couch Surfing, which, for Bad Santa, meant getting blind drunk to perform Willie's alcohol-fueled meltdown in a hilarious scene.
