Arrow recap: The Ultimate 'Odyssey'

To promote tonight’s episode of Arrow, the CW released the kind of cinematic trailer usually reserved for big-budget summer flicks. In retrospect, that probably should have been the first giveaway that “The Odyssey” was going to be a cut above the rest. While the series has been ramping up the emotional drama as of late, it hasn’t always hit the right notes. Tonight, however, it was right on target. Now grab some popcorn and let’s dig in… We pick up right where we left off, with Arrow storming into Moira’s office to accuse her of “failing this city.

Ashton Sanders shines in Oscar darling drama

Ashton Sanders’ performance in Barry Jenkins’ revelatory triptych Moonlight is all about risk. The 20-year old, best known for a small role in Straight Outta Compton, plays Chiron, a gay teenager experiencing his sexual awakening within the unaccepting, hyper-masculine world of Miami’s poverty-stricken Liberty City neighborhood. To many young actors the precarious nature of such a role would be too much to rest a burgeoning career. To Sanders it was necessary, vital, magical even.

Aspen tragedy

Before Aspen became a celebrity playground for the likes of Goldie Hawn and Michael Douglas, Vladimir ”Spider” Sabich and Claudine Longet were the glammest bunnies the Colorado town had to offer. Parisian-born Longet, a recording artist and former Folies-Bergere dancer who’d once been wed to Andy Williams, embodied the chicness of L.A. and Europe; Sabich was an Olympic skier-turned-professional champion. The couple, who lived with Longet’s three children from her marriage to Williams, were, as Longet once said, ”everything that a man and woman should be to each other.

Aubrey Plaza says Jennifer Coolidge travels by a sleigh led by wolves

Aubrey Plaza has the tea on her White Lotus costar Jennifer Coolidge (and a few other celebs she's worked with in her career). The deadpan extraordinaire stopped by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert Wednesday night for a little "Tea at the Plaza." In the kooky recurring segment, she served up some rather scalding gossip about her famous colleagues, including how Coolidge "refuses to travel by plane, train, or car." In fact, Plaza said, "

It’s not a mic drop, but six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald still stole the show in the newest digital #Ham4Ham performance. Playing Maria Reynolds to Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Alexander Hamilton, McDonald performed “Say No To This” — but with a sultry twist, as “that’s when Ms. Billie Holiday came into my life.” “Tony Award Winner and living legend Audra McDonald joins us to perform Say No To This–AS Billie Holiday,” Miranda wrote of the video.

How’s this for star power? EW can confirm that Audra McDonald, the only person to win all four Tony acting categories, will star opposite Oscar and Tony nominee Michael Shannon in a new Broadway production of Terrence McNally’s Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune this summer, for a strictly limited 16-week engagement. Author Sam Lansky on his fiction debut

Sam Lansky is channeling his life story for another compelling and honest story. After Lansky bore his soul in the memoir The Gilded Razor, something surprising happened: people said they related to his story. "I thought I sold that book because my story was so crazy and everyone was going to read it and be like, 'that's a super-specific and unique way to be a teenager,'" Lansky shares, "I wrote it more out of self-interest, but then I had the unexpected gift after it was over of realizing that people had felt seen or comforted by what I had shared in my incredibly specific story that ultimately I realized I was much more universal than I had known.
