Amazon deletes purchased e-books - sign of things to come?

Last week, hundreds of Kindle owners discovered that an e-book they had bought had been deleted from their Kindles overnight, though Amazon credited their accounts for the purchase. (The titles affected included George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty Four or Animal Farm, ironically enough.) It seems that these were unauthorized editions offered on the Kindle site and the “publisher” had no legal right to sell the titles. Fair enough. (Amazon is fairly diligent about purging other unauthorized titles from its site, including pirated Harry Potter books.

Amber Rose defends Kim Kardashian after Pink comments

Amber Rose may not be the biggest Kanye West fan, but she has his wife Kim Kardashian’s back through thick and thin. One month after Rose and Kardashian took a selfie together, Rose defended the reality star after her naked selfie drew negative comments online. Kardashian was dinged by Chloë Grace Moretz, Bette Midler, and Piers Morgan for the photo, and also appeared to be the impetus for a note Pink wrote on social media about women using their bodies to get attention.

Amber Ruffin previews Broadway adaptation of Some Like It Hot

Nobody's perfect, but that won't stop Amber Ruffin from trying when it comes to writing a musical. The comedian, writer, and host of The Amber Ruffin Show is delving into a new world — that of Broadway, as the co-writer of a new Some Like It Hot musical alongside Tony winning playwright Matthew Lopez (The Inheritance). Casual fans might not know that this isn't the first musical Ruffin has written. She co-wrote (and starred in) a musical parody of documentary The King of Kong for Los Angeles' Sacred Fools Theater Company.

AMC cancels 61st Street after 1 season, won't air already-filmed second season

AMC is putting 61st Street in its rearview mirror. The legal drama, which the network had originally greenlit for two seasons, has been canceled after just one season, EW has confirmed. The announcement comes after the series — which starred Courtney B. Vance, Tosin Cole, Aunjanue Ellis, and Holt McCallany — has reportedly already wrapped its second season, which AMC will no longer air. The series is one of multiple shows that have been affected by AMC's latest cost-cutting measures after the company announced that it would be taking $400 million in content write-downs in December, per Variety.

Amelia

Amelia is a frustratingly old-school, Hollywood-style, inspirational biopic about Amelia Earhart that doesn’t trust a viewer’s independent assessment of the famous woman pictured on the screen. The mystery we ought to be paying attention to is: What really happened on the legendary American aviator’s final, fatal flight in 1937? But the question audiences are left with is this: How could so tradition-busting a role model have resulted in so square, stiff, and earthbound a movie?

America's Best Dance Crew recap: VMA Nominees

Well, that was fast. After just five weeks we’re already down to the Semi-Finals—and then, within the same episode, the Finals— with the remaining three champion teams performing their final two routines. Last week, it felt a lot like the judges made the wrong decision on which team should go home, and that tonight’s Finals could have gone in a very different direction (for one thing, a marriage proposal dance). But in the end, everything about these three crews’ final dances felt pretty right.

America's first lady of drag covers EW's LGBTQ issue

Check out the complete oral history of RuPaul—and revisit 25 years’ worth of game-changing LGBTQ movies, TV, and music—in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, on stands Friday, or buy it here now. Don’t forget to subscribe for more exclusive interviews and photos, only in EW. Drag has been around since the days of Dionysus, but no ancient Greek ever sashayed nearly as statuesquely as RuPaul Charles. The world’s most famous and influential drag performer took a long (and still) marginalized art form and used it to create an empire — and in doing so, built a shimmering 30-year-long career as twisted as pop culture itself to become one of the most important LGBTQ icons of our time.

A cause of death was not disclosed. "It is with profound sadness that we announce the transition of our beloved son, brother and friend, Zuri Craig," the statement read. "We thank you in advance for your prayers.

America's Next Top Model recap: Hat's All, Folks

Model behaviorists, this week’s episode is a little thing we in the biz like to call “a dud.” Oh sure, there was bitchtastic in-fighting, and yeah, there was a pretty rad challenge, but… nothing really clicked into place or seemed to have much influence over other aspects of the episode. On the one hand, nice pictures. On the other… oops, my other hand wandered away out of boredom. Luckily, it enjoyed Raising Hope.
