''Ugly Betty'' returns: Cliff-hanger survivors

”Ugly Betty” returns: Cliff-hanger survivors It’s been four months, Ugly Betty TV Watchers, since we last convened. A painfully long four months. I was honestly worried about you: Did you survive your summer without a fix of Suarez and Co.? Summer TV is dandy (all right, that’s a stretch), but the show-tune singers on America’s Got Talent? No match for Justin belting ”Good Morning, Baltimore” on the subway. Boozy escapades on The Real World?

'12 Monkeys' recap: 'Divine Move'

“Tomorrow” left the 12 Monkeys cast at its most emotionally distraught. Ramse and Cole, best friends—and the show’s best relationship—since the start, are now completely at odds. Jones may have her time-travel plans back on track, but she had to murder dozens of innocents to do so. And Cassie in 2015 hates that, even if the world is saved, she’s lost Cole in her life. If that episode ignited the emotional turmoil, “Divine Move” sets it ablaze, literally, in the episode’s open.

'2014 was the year I saw my hair on TV'

One promising TV trend in 2014? The abundance of natural hair, as seen on black female characters from network TV to Netflix. Annalise Keating shed her wig and shattered narrow beauty standards on How to Get Away With Murder. The inmates’ textured hairstyles inspired emotional story lines on Orange Is the New Black. In Scandal‘s season premiere, Olivia took a rest from her silky-smooth D.C. blowouts. And Dr. Johnson’s hair on black-ish is exactly like Tracee Ellis Ross’ hair in real life: natural.

'21 Jump Street' director Phil Lord schools Jay-Z on Cuba trip

Jay-Z and Beyonce's recent, heavily documented trip to Cuba was heavily criticized by several conservative politicians, some of whom even threatened to open investigations into the excursion. After it was later revealed that the rapper and his pop star wife were authorized by the Treasury Department to travel to the country, Jay released a song, "Open Letter," attacking those who questioned the trip's legality. But some are still up in arms over the trip, including 21 Jump Street director Phil Lord.

'30 Rock': Boston backwards

Compared to last week’s killer episodes, “Winter Madness” was something of a letdown. Nancy isn’t funny enough as a romantic foil for Jack — Edie Falco’s Celeste Cunningham, anyone? — and taking the show to Boston without a big Cheers joke just seems off. Still, “Madness” had its moments. These were the 10 best: “Star, rats, arts, tars..” — Liz, who’s the female Kevin McHale (Here’s a photo. I’m guessing they don’t mean Artie from Glee, although…) “Nutmeg!

'80s Romances Get Wiser Redos

In the 1980s, strange as it may seem, the word romantic almost never appeared before the word comedy. Given the winking flippancy of so much ’80s pop culture (Arnold movies, Dynasty, the “Thriller” video), the era, in hindsight, seems made for rom-coms, but the form didn’t really start to proliferate until 1989, the year of When Harry Met Sally… Up until then, ’80s romantic movies tended to be mushy, gauzy, and tearful, and two quintessential cases are About Last Night… (1986) and Endless Love (1981).

'9-1-1' season 7 finale preview video show's Athena in rage and Bobby in peril (exclusive)

Is Peter Krause leaving 9-1-1? His fire captain character Bobby Nash ended last week's episode rescuing his wife, Athena (Angela Bassett), from their burning home — only to end up collapsing himself. Now, in a season 7 finale preview clip exclusive to Entertainment Weekly, Athena is in a state of shock and rage as she sits next to her unconscious husband's hospital bed. "I am here, baby. I hope you know that.

'90s Nickelodeon shows coming back

Image Credit: Lisa Rose/NickelodeonIf you’re a twentysomething who’s been jonesing for repeats of All That and Clarissa Explains it All, then this news is for you: EW has learned exclusively that starting this fall, TeenNick will dust off old faves like Rugrats, Kenan & Kel, Pete & Pete, The Amanda Show, All That, and Clarissa and air them in a new midnight-to-2 a.m. programming block dubbed (appropriately enough) The ’90s Are All That.

'After Midnight' host Taylor Tomlinson and Stephen Colbert on new show

Forget prime time, one of the funniest shows on TV right now airs long after the clock strikes 12. Taylor Tomlinson hosts CBS's After Midnight, an irreverent comedy series that's part game show, part talk show, and 100 percent ridiculous. A reboot of the Chris Hardwick–hosted Comedy Central show, After Midnight unites a panel of comedians who compete in games and crack jokes about internet esoterica. (Past winners have earned prizes such as a catalytic converter, an "
