Sir Kenneth Branagh’s Agatha Christie adaptation Murder on the Orient Express (out Nov. 10) is full of Hollywood heavy hitters, including Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Willem Dafoe, and Branagh himself as Christie’s famous sleuth, Hercule Poirot.

Michelle Branch will return this year with her first solo album in almost 15 years. Hopeless Romantic, inspired both by her divorce from Teddy Landau and by her new relationship with the Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney, who also co-wrote and produced the new set, is due for release April 7. The 33-year-old has, so far, shared the set's lead single, the smoky title track, and now, EW is thrilled to premiere its accompanying video.

Michelle Zauner, who has been curating a career in the indie-rock scene for years, has also long been contemplating a book. A 2016 essay about learning how to make kimchi, published in Glamour magazine, first helped set the intention, but it wasn't until a 2018 New Yorker essay— about reckoning with her Korean identity and the loss of her mother—went viral that authoring a memoir became a real possibility. There's the primal explosion of Feb. 27, 1969, which became part of the Grateful Dead's first official live album, Live/Dead. Some stump for the psychedelic fever dream of Aug. 27, 1972, which became the basis for a documentary, Sunshine Daydream. Microsoft invaded Hollywood this week, sending green-helmeted warriors dressed to look like Master Chief from the Xbox game Halo into the offices of each major studio on Monday morning to deliver the software giant’s pitch for a movie adaptation of the $600 million video game franchise. The armored messengers were a warning: Microsoft was playing hardball and was making some draconian demands for the film rights, including a yes-or-no response within hours.

There’s an old saying: You have to have the blues to sing the blues. Robert Cray sells the blues; his records scramble up the pop charts, and he’s won two Grammy awards. But the blues haven’t taken root in his heart. George Clooney has honored his cousin Miguel Ferrer who died Thursday morning at the age of 61, with a touching tribute. “Today history will mark giant changes in our world, and lost to most will be that on the same day Miguel Ferrer lost his battle to throat cancer,” said Clooney in a statement to EW. “But not lost to his family. Miguel made the world brighter and funnier and his passing is felt so deeply in our family that events of the day, (monumental events), pale in comparison.

Mike Birbiglia’s The New One is staying fresh. The beloved comedian and best-selling author will publish a memoir about his experiences in fatherhood in 2020, based on his acclaimed stage show of the same name, EW can exclusively announce. The book begins with the premise that “Mike Birbiglia never wanted to be a father,” and from there, unfurls his experiences in parenthood in alternately heartbreaking and hilarious fashion. The New One recently launched on Broadway after a hugely successful off-Broadway run, and this fall, he’ll tour the show across Los Angeles, Washington, D.

Mike Huckabee wasn’t too fond of Aidy Bryant’s impression of his daughter on last weekend’s Saturday Night Live. The former Arkansas governor called the bit “silly” and “misogynist” during an interview for Varney & Co. on Fox Business Network Tuesday. “I thought it was a little bit silly, sexist, [and] misogynist, but my daughter is certainly capable of handling a whole lot worse than that,” Huckabee said. He added, “She is a great wife, an absolutely wonderful mother to three beautiful preschool children, and she’s a generous and thoughtful person who is very charitable in her life, good to her friends, and ultimately, here’s what we taught her, that she’s going to be judged by God, not by some not-so funny comedy writers on Saturday Night Live.

Mike Shinoda has a new pair of sneakers. We don’t mean that the Linkin Park rapper has acquired fresh footwear (though he probably has).
