'Outlander' recap: 'Wentworth Prison'

The end is nigh, Outlander fans. Tonight's "Wentworth Prison" and last week's "The Search" have set the stage for a brutal end to season 1. (You'll want to note that the finale airs May 30—not next week.) So without further ado, let's revisit the bloody events of this penultimate episode. We open on gallows—a veritable conveyor belt of hangings. One after another after another. Jamie and McQuarrie, in chains, wait their turn.

'Oz' creator criticizes HBO: 'They become afraid'

The creator of HBO’s first one-hour original drama series criticized the premium network Saturday for not taking more programming risks in recent years. Writer-producer Tom Fontana, who made NBC’s groundbreaking Homicide: Life on the Street, as well as HBO’s debut scripted drama, the dark prison series Oz, was on panel at the ATX Television Festival in Austin, Texas with fellow showrunner David Simon. The exchange about HBO began when Simon was discussing how the network supported his acclaimed struggling drama The Wire.

'Pachinko' star Lee Minho on Hansu's backstory and anti-hero status

Warning: This post contains spoilers for season 1, episode 7 of Pachinko. Lee Minho does not consider his Pachinko character a villain. The South Korean actor plays Hansu, the enigmatic wealthy fish broker in the aching Apple TV+ series based on Min Jin Lee's novel of the same name. An older, married man with ties to the yakuza, Hansu shapes the life of central protagonist Sunja (played by newcomer Minha Kim and Oscar winner Yuh-Jung Youn during two stages of her life) in formative ways, beginning an all-consuming love affair and later fathering her firstborn son.

'Parks and Recreation' lock attached to Paris bridge is missing

Bad news for believers in Parks and Recreation and the good of humankind: The lock Ben and Leslie attached to Paris’ Pont des Arts Neuf bridge in the show’s 100th episode has disappeared. Ben surprises Leslie with a trip to Paris after her last day in office, and once there, they snap the lock (reading “LESLIE AND BEN” with a bright red heart) to the bridge. We all thought it would stay forever until a Tumblr post first alerted the world to the disappearance.

'Parks and Recreation' season 6 premiere recap: London, baby!

[Caution: Spoilers for tonight’s season 6 premiere!] Okay, so nobody actually uttered Joey Tribbiani’s temporary catchphrase during tonight’s supersized Parks premiere. Still, I can’t be the only one who thought of Friends‘ big season 4 trip when Leslie, Ben, Ron, April, and Andy briefly ditched Pawnee for stately London, home of goofy nobility, multiple rom-com bus tours, and something called Picadilly Circus that isn’t even a real circus. (Quoth Andy: “There’s no elephants, there was no cotton candy, there’s no clowns.

'Parks and Recreation's' Natalie Morales comes out as queer

Former Parks and Recreation actress Natalie Morales has publicly come out as queer. The 32-year-old actress posted the announcement on Friday on Twitter, writing, "I'm coming out. I want the world to know. #PrideMonth." She also linked to a longer essay on Amy Poehler's Smart Girls website, explaining her journey to discover her queer identity and her reasons for coming out now. "I don't like labeling myself, or anyone else, but if it's easier for you to understand me, what I'm saying is that I'm queer,"

'Pretty Little Liars' star Keegan Allen talks his NYC stage debut

Sure, you can find Pretty Little Liars‘ Toby, the show’s second most questionable fella, running around Rosewood, but starting this month, the same can’t be said for Toby’s portrayer, Keegan Allen. Rather, Allen, 26, is spending his days on a stage just out of Rosewood’s reach. Allen is starring in the off-Broadway play Small Engine Repair. Put on by MCC Theater, Small Engine Repair is a comic thriller about three old high-school pals who regularly meet up at an off-the-beaten-path repair shop.

'Quiet on Set' bombshells about Nickelodeon: Pedophiles, sexism, more

Investigation Discovery's Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV drops a number of disconcerting bombs about the workplace culture at Nickelodeon during the 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s. The docuseries (streaming on ID now) examines the toxic environment at Nick during the reign of megaproducer Dan Schneider, who created and executive produced hit series like The Amanda Show, Drake & Josh, iCarly, and Zoey 101.  Schneider and Nickelodeon parted ways in 2018 after a two-decade working relationship, following a ViacomCBS investigation that determined no evidence of sexual misconduct but concluded that Schneider was verbally abusive on set, per a 2021 report by The New York Times.
