Jason Sudeikis' Dead Poets Society: EW stage review

It’s not every day that a play seems to call for a recommended reading list or prompts flashbacks to writing essays for high school English class. But if the idea of such things grabs you, you’ll feel right at home at the Classic Stage Theater’s production of Dead Poets Society, even if the play feels like a SparkNotes version of the 1989 movie on which it’s based. The production, directed by John Doyle, hits the same beats as the film version of Dead Poets (written by Tom Schulman, who adapted his screenplay for the stage incarnation).

Jay Leno announced as Craig Ferguson's last guest

In a symbolic acknowledgment of cross-network camaraderie, Jay Leno will be the last guest on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Ferguson will sign off from the show on Friday, Dec. 19. Jeff Beck, legendary guitarist, dies at 78

Jeff Beck, the English guitarist, innovator, and two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, died on Tuesday. He was 78. Beck's family announced that the legendary musician died after contracting bacterial meningitis. "On behalf of his family, it is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck's passing," a statement read. "After suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis, he peacefully passed away yesterday. His family ask for privacy while they process this tremendous loss.

Jeff Goldblum will play a god... again

Jeffrey Jones avoided a possible three-year prison term on Tuesday, pleading no contest to charges stemming from his alleged hiring of a 14-year-old boy to pose for lewd snapshots. A Los Angeles judge sentenced the 56-year-old ”Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” star to five years probation and ordered him to undergo counseling and to be placed on a registry of sex offenders for the rest of his life. Jones, best known as high school principal Ed Rooney in ”Bueller,” was targeted in the same 2001 kid-porn probe that also led to charges against fellow Tim Burton regular Paul Reubens.
