Seu Jorge endeared himself to bigger audiences when he appeared in Wes Anderson’s The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou as Pelé dos Santos, a sailor fond of playing David Bowie songs. Now the Brazilian musician will return to those roots in honor of the late icon.
This fall, Jorge will travel to 12 North American cities for “The Life Aquatic: A Tribute To David Bowie,” in character, and playing tracks off his Bowie cover album, The Life Aquatic Studio Sessions.
The tour set will re-create the aesthetic from Anderson’s 2004 movie, with video screens shaped like ship sails.
The Life Aquatic Studio Sessions featured Jorge giving his take on 14 Bowie songs in his native Portuguese tongue and his acoustic guitar, giving new spins “Life on Mars?,” “Ziggy Stardust,” and more.
