Jason Priestley used to be roommates with Brad Pitt — and says that they used to see who could go the longest without showering.
In an appearance on Live With Kelly and Mark, the Beverly Hills, 90210 actor discussed his time living with the Seven star. “Yes, yes he was one of my roommates for a brief period of time,” Priestley said. “There were three of us living in a two bedroom apartment in a really crappy part of L.A.”
Priestley said that Pitt was a decent roommate. “Brad wasn’t as bad as my other roommate, who was an absolute disaster, but Brad was okay,” he said. “We used to play this game, all of us, to see who could go the longest without showering. I think about it now, I’m like ‘Dude, how disgusting! What were you thinking?’”
When asked who would win these anti-shower contests, Priestley said, “Brad, always Brad. I don’t think he does that anymore, but back then, he could go a long time without showering.”
The status of Brad's pits have been discussed sporadically throughout his career. Eli Roth said that his Inglourious Basterds costar shared a quick-and-dirty tip for freshening up on the set of Quentin Tarantino’s war film. “He shared that when you’re sweating and don’t have time to take a shower, you just take a baby wipe and rub it under your armpits,” Roth told PEOPLE in 2009. Roth said that Pitt told him, “I got six kids. All you’ve got to do is just take them, a couple quick wipes under the pits… I’m getting [peed] on all day. I don’t have time to take a shower.”
In 2013, Pitt himself admitted that he doesn’t always smell incredible on a film set. While discussing World War Z, he told E!, “You don't always smell so nice with a thousand extras—me included, by the way—but it's good fun. Really good fun.”
Pitt seems to have worked on his hygiene since his days as a starving artist. In 2014, Laura Simpson, who attended the Oscars with longtime friend Jennifer Lawrence, claimed that the actor “smells amazing” on MySpace. "Like nothing I've ever smelled. Eventually we ask what cologne he's wearing and he tells us, 'I don't wear cologne, it's just my musk I guess.' I have to choose not to believe him because it would just be unfair to mankind."
Similarly, in a Tonight Show interview, Saturday Night Live’s Chloe Fineman said she knew that Pitt “smells great” after he borrowed one of her wigs to play Dr. Anthony Fauci.
