Dora Madison Burge is heading to Chicago Fire‘s Firehouse 51 as new “paramedic in charge” Jessica “Chili” Chilton, EW has learned. Burge replaces departing series regular Charlie Barnett, whose character Peter Mills recently left Chicago.
If Burge looks familiar, that’s because she first appeared in the first episode of Chicago P.D. as a different character. “We’re not playing twins,” executive producer Matt Olmstead says. “It’s different shows, but the same universe. So we have a line, ‘My sister Jelly Bean moved to Kansas City,’ and then we just move on.”
“She’s young, loves what she does, and she’s alone in Chicago,” Olmstead says. “She looks toward Hermann [David Eigenberg] as almost a father figure and a mentor, because she, like Hermann, is a big dreamer and has big ideas. He takes her under her wing because she also doesn’t have any family left in Chicago. There’s a really sweet relationship between her and Hermann that develops.”
Burge will appear in the final three episodes of the season. Chicago Fire airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
